 Rosneft is one of the largest companies of fuel and energy in Russia and in the World. Rosneft is included in the list of the strategic companies, the state share in the company is fixed at level of 75 %. The company operates a lot of projects in the south and the north of the European part of the country, in Siberia, in the Far East, in Kazakhstan and Algeria.

Rosneft has been created in 1993 in the form of the company from 100 % by state participation. In 90th the state repeatedly planned to carry out company privatization, but these plans have not been realized in connection to the low interest of investors. Low interest from investors influenced badly on the financial condition of the company. In 1998 the most part of property was arrested on request of creditors, the company hardly hasn’t lost the basic extracting and processing enterprises.
The Rosneft financial position began to improve after in 1998 the president of the company had been appointed Sergey Bogdanchikov. A considerable role in growth of financial indicators of the company has played the rise of oil price in the world market. For some years for Rosneft it was possible to restore control over branches and to get new actives.

The new stage in Rosneft development has begun in connection with bankruptcy of the company Yukos. In the end of 2004 the Rosneft has bought Yuganskneftegaz, and in 2007 has got the most part of the remained actives of the company YUKOS. It has allowed Rosneft to win first place in Russia on extraction and oil refining, become the leading player on a commodity market of oil products.
IPO “Rosneft”
On July, 14th, 2006 primary placing of actions (IPO) “Rosneft” has taken place. In IPO it was sold 14,8 % of actions of the oil company for a total sum $10,4 billion. According to the volume of involved means IPO of “Rosneft” has occupied 1 place to Russia and 5 place in the world.
Strategic investors have got 21 % of the placed papers, international investors – 36 %, the Russian investors – 39 %, the Russian private persons – 4 %. Among the largest buyers of actions of “Rosneft” – BP ($1), Petronas ($1,1), CNPC ($500 million). Large packages of the action have bought Shell and ONGC. Shareholders of the company are more than 115 thousand of the Russians, the submitted demands for a total sum $750,5 million.
Contemporary history
In March, 2009 board of directors NK “Rosneft” has selected the new structure of board of the company in number of 8 persons. The president of “Rosneft” appoints Sergey Bogdanchikov, by vice-presidents – Larissa Kalanda and Sergey Makarov.
In June, 2010 “Rosneft” and Crescent Petroleum have begun the first joint project on gas production in Shardzha (United Arab Emirates), having signed the agreement on joint concession (the contract on time commissioning of bowels under certain conditions). The agreement has been signed between the companies and a management of the emirates.On this moment the covpany develops its powers in the whole World and in a few years it will be even much bigger.
